We use the cold-process method of soapmaking for all of our soaps When it comes to natural, skin-loving soap, the oils used in the recipe are everything. They’re not just fillers—they’re the foundation of how the soap feels, cleanses, and nourishes your skin. At That Sage Life, we carefully select plant-based oils that offer the perfect balance of cleansing power and gentle moisture.
All of our artisanal soaps are hand cut so they will weigh different weights each one. These particular bars can weigh anywhere from 5.6oz to 6.2 oz
Each of our soaps will come with a wonderful bamboo soap tray to keep your soap dry from wasting away and a sisal exfoliating bag to put your soap in to scrub your body down.
🥥 Coconut Oil
Why we love it: Coconut oil is a soapmaking essential. It creates a bubbly lather and adds cleansing power that leaves you feeling truly clean.
Benefits in soap:
– Creates rich, fluffy lather
– Excellent cleanser
– Offers antibacterial and antifungal properties
– Hardens soap naturally for longer-lasting bars
Best for: Oily or acne-prone skin (though we always balance it with moisturizing oils to keep skin soft!)
Sweet almond oil is a highly prized, nourishing carrier oil in soap making that delivers deep skin hydration, helps soothe dry or irritated skin, and creates a soft, silky bar.Because of its unique fatty acid profile, sweet almond oil brings a multitude of targeted benefits to both the soap-making process and the finished bar:Skin BenefitsDeeply Moisturizing: Packed with Oleic (60-78%) and Linoleic (10-30%) acids, it acts as an excellent emollient that softens the skin barrier and prevents moisture loss.Soothing and Non-Greasy: It has a low comedogenic rating (won't clog pores) and mirrors the skin's natural oils. It is ideal for soaps formulated to help manage dry skin, eczema, and dermatitis.Nutrient Dense: Rich in vitamins A, D, and E, it provides antioxidant support to protect the skin and improve elasticity.Soap-Making BenefitsStable, Lacy Lather: Contributes to a stable, creamy, and gentle lather rather than large, fluffy bubbles.Excellent for Color Blending: Its lightweight consistency makes it the perfect oil to premix and disperse colorants (like micas and oxides) into cold process soap batter.Sustained Trace: It slows down the thickening (trace) of your soap batter, making it an excellent choice for intricate, layered designs and detailed swirling.
- Acne & Blemishes: The antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties reduce acne-causing bacteria and soothe redness.
- Eczema & Psoriasis: Neem helps relieve itchy, flaky, or irritated skin while hydrating the skin barrier.
- Fungal Infections: It fights off common fungal issues like ringworm and athlete's foot.
- Gentle Cleansing: Neem cleanses the skin of excess oil without over-stripping, leaving a balanced complexion. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
